Mid-Continent Railroad Museum

In October, 2000, I was fortunate enough to be able to visit the Mid-Continent Railway in North Freedom, Wisconsin. I had been there one time a long time ago before I got actively involved in model railroading. At the time, I was able to take the steam ride excursion. During this visit, none of the trains were running but I got to walk all through the yard and buildings to see all the work in progress. Of special interest to me was the Goodman’s Lumber Shay #9 which was parked in the yard. It is not currently operational but I enjoyed crawling over it and taking pictures of the first “full size” Shay I have ever seen. It helped me better understand some of the parts and pieces that I have yet to construct for my model Shay. So here are a few pictures of my visit. Enjoy!!
